What to do when you’re not feeling beautiful

Have you ever thought: “I’m just not pretty enough.  My life would be better if I were more beautiful.”

Have you ever suffered a setback in work or a relationship and thought that it was because you weren’t attractive enough? This can put you into a negative loop where you are convinced that you will never be enough.

I’m a boudoir photographer and I work to empower women and help them see their true beauty.

From my viewpoint, I can tell you that there is ZERO correlation between someone’s confidence and their looks.

Don’t believe me?

I have had women in the studio who are the definition of society’s beauty standards who nonetheless feel very unsexy and not confident. Conversely, I’ve had women who don’t fit that same profile who come to the studio and swagger and strut like they own the world.

Sexy is not a size.

Sexy is not one particular shape, color or age.

I wish that all women could see their potential and know that they are beautiful RIGHT NOW.

Here are some practical tips that you can implement:

1. Eliminate negative talk about yourself. Don’t say anything about yourself that you wouldn’t say to your best friend. What you speak over yourself is what you will believe.

2. Stop negative thoughts about other people’s looks. You will be more harsh on yourself if you are harsh with others. Don’t waste your mental energy.

3. Address any health concerns. Sometimes you can feel unattractive because of health issues.  See if you can get into a specialist or make diet changes so that you feel better. Remember, its okay to want to feel healthy, just dont try to lose weight to fit someone elses idea of perfection.

4. Self care. When you treat your body well, you will automatically feel better about your body. Pamper yourself. Get that massage! Get your nails done. Treat yourself as if you deserve nice things—because you do!
