Preparing for your session!

Whether you’re coming in for your first boudoir photo shoot or your 50th, make the most of your experience by following these boudoir dos and don’ts:

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

Do: Wear loose clothing to your appointment in a fabric that won’t irritate your skin. Consider a simple cotton top and loose pants or a skirt. Do NOT wear a bra/tight bra- it WILL leave lines!

Do: Drink extra water during the week before your shoot so your skin is plump and hydrated. Before your appointment, make sure to eat a light but nourishing meals.

Do: Be creative! Costumes and other unconventional choices can make a boudoir shoot lots of fun. Bring any accessories you might want to use, like jewelry, props or even glasses.

Do: Spend some time looking at pinterest or my website for some ideas of poses you want. Let me know your comfort level! Some people want to be nude and some want covered. I am full of ideas, but want to make sure your vision is captured too!

WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO :)

Don’t: Wear tight or constricting clothing to your shoot, especially if you have sensitive skin. If you wear your skinniest jeans to your appointment, you may be unpleasantly surprised to discover unsightly red marks in your photos.

Don’t: Overdo it on the alcohol, which can make your skin look puffy, or eat heavy meals that will make you bloat.

Don’t: Bring anything you don’t feel 100% comfortable in. For example, lots of women want to shoot boudoir photos wearing a thong, but if you hate thongs, wear something else.

Don’t: Forget your shoes! Keep in mind that you won’t have to walk in them, so consider bringing some sexy stilettos. Heels always make your butt look better :)

Before your session

Wax, shave, pluck areas you want smooth.  Try to do your waxing at LEAST 2 days before to reduce any redness.  If you prefer natural go for it, but just know my camera picks up a lot.

Don’t fake tan please!!  Pictures seem to always come out orange. If you MUST then make sure its at least 2-3 days before your session. :)

Day of your session

Wash and dry your hair the day of your session if you aren’t getting it professionally done. Let your hair be natural with curls or straight if you prefer.

Makeup (if doing your own), check pintrest for some great makeup ideas or contact me as I CAN do your makeup, with prior arrangements. Ask me for colors that make your eyes POP and make sure you do not go "light" on makeup. Wear a fun color on your lips!

Nails (and toenails) make sure they are clean or polished (chipped nail polish sticks out like a sore thumb).   No time for a manicure the press on nails from Wal-Mart etc look good in pictures too.

Try to come in comfortable clothes- if you can go braless go for it (it also keeps bra strap marks from showing up).

Bring neutral underwear and bring a pair of black undies that you feel comfortable in.

Cannot wait for your session! Any other questions? ASK! Not sure what to wear or want my opinion? ASK! I am here to make sure YOU feel sexy, confident and empowered!

All my love,

Jo
